What you'll be doing  

• Lead the Data Engineering capability across data platform engineering, data pipelines and processing, data operations, BI and reporting, and data quality engineering, delivering reliable cloud data infrastructure and trustworthy analytics for the business.

• Lead the Data Engineering capability, owning data platform engineering across the cloud data platform (Google BigQuery), storage, compute, and data access layers on GCP.

• Own data pipelines and processing, engineering robust ETL/ELT ingestion pipelines (Python, Apache Airflow, dbt, Airbyte) and batch and streaming processing from source systems into the data warehouse.

• Own data operations, including pipeline monitoring, job orchestration and scheduling, incident resolution, and the reliability and uptime of data ingestion (DataOps).

• Own BI and reporting, developing semantic layers (Looker, LookML), reporting models, and dashboards (Power BI, SQL) to deliver actionable business intelligence.

• Own data quality engineering, implementing automated data testing, data validation, anomaly detection, and cleansing logic to ensure accuracy and data integrity.

•Own engineering leadership, capability and team development, engineering practices, and continuous improvement across the data engineering team.

• Remain hands-on: plan, design, execute, and document data validation and automated data testing across integrated data systems for assigned scope.

• Use Claude Code for AI-assisted development to accelerate pipeline and query development while maintaining quality.

What you’ll need to succeed  

• 10 years of data engineering experience, including experience leading or mentoring engineers.

• Strong expertise in Google BigQuery, cloud data warehousing, data access control, and GCP.

• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT (Python, Apache Airflow, dbt, Airbyte), batch and streaming processing, and DataOps (pipeline monitoring, job orchestration, incident resolution).

• Proficiency in BI and reporting (Looker, LookML, Power BI, SQL, dashboard design) and data quality engineering (data validation, automated data testing, anomaly detection).

• Familiarity with Claude Code for AI-assisted development.
