English Teacher – Complex SEMH School – Epping | Immediate Start

Are you a passionate English Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people?

We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Epping that is seeking an enthusiastic and resilient English Teacher to join their dedicated team.

This specialist provision supports pupils with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, anxiety, adverse childhood experiences, and disruption to their education. As a result, many students require a patient, understanding, and relationship-focused approach to learning.

The school follows a trauma-informed model, recognising that behaviour is often a form of communication. Classes are small, allowing staff to provide highly personalised support and build positive, trusting relationships with students that encourage engagement and academic progress.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that inspire students to develop their literacy, communication, reading, and writing skills. You will work closely with pastoral and support staff to ensure pupils are supported both academically and emotionally, creating an environment where they feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
  • Have a strong understanding of SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Be able to build positive relationships with challenging and vulnerable learners
  • Be patient, resilient, and committed to helping students achieve their potential
  • Be passionate about raising engagement and outcomes in English

What the school offers:

  • Small class sizes and excellent staff-to-student ratios
  • A supportive and experienced leadership team
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives
  • A highly rewarding and varied teaching environment

This is a fantastic opportunity for an English Teacher who is looking to move beyond a traditional classroom setting and make a lasting difference to students who need support, consistency, and positive role models.

If you're passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success, we'd love to hear from you.
