Protocol Education is recruiting a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Gateshead.

You'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, gaining first-hand experience of how children with additional needs learn, communicate and develop.

Whether you're planning a career in Psychology, Teaching, SEND, Mental Health, Social Work or Therapy, this could be an excellent place to start.

The Role

You will support pupils throughout the school day, including:

• 1:1 and small-group learning
• Emotional and behavioural support
• Communication and social development
• Classroom activities and interventions
• Literacy and numeracy support
• Confidence and independence building
• Positive behaviour strategies
• Developing trusting relationships
• Supporting pupils with additional needs
• Working as part of a wider SEND team

Why Your Psychology Background Matters

Your degree will give you an understanding of behaviour, development, communication and individual differences — all of which can be valuable when supporting pupils in a SEND environment.

You don't need to be an experienced Teaching Assistant. What matters most is your attitude, patience and willingness to learn.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
