Protocol Education is working closely with a warm and inclusive primary school in South Bristol (BS4) that is seeking Learning Support Assistant to join their team.

This rewarding role is centred around supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including pupils with communication and language needs, autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs. Your ability to speak both Polish and English will help bridge communication gaps, build trusting relationships and ensure children feel understood, supported and included throughout their school day.

The school prides itself on creating a nurturing environment where every child is celebrated for their individuality and given the support they need to succeed. You'll play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally while working alongside a dedicated team of teachers, SEN practitioners and pastoral staff.

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, have worked with children in another setting, or are considering a future career in education, psychology, speech and language therapy or SEND support, this could be the perfect opportunity.

Location: BS4, South Bristol
Pay: £14.25 - £15.25 per hour (paid weekly via PAYE)

The Role

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you'll provide tailored support to pupils who require additional help accessing learning and managing the school day successfully.

You'll work both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping children develop confidence, communication skills, emotional regulation and independence.

No two days are the same, but every day offers the chance to make a genuine difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and other additional learning requirements.
  • Use your Polish language skills to support communication with pupils and families where appropriate.
  • Help pupils access learning activities and remain engaged in lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focused on communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENDCo staff and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help children feel safe and confident in school.
  • Encourage independence, resilience and self-esteem.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is fluent in both Polish and English.
  • Has experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Has an interest in SEND and supporting children with additional needs.
  • Is patient, compassionate and adaptable.
  • Can remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Understands the importance of inclusive education.
  • Wants to make a lasting impact on children's lives.

Previous experience supporting SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs is highly desirable but not essential.

  • Dedicated support from a specialist education consultant.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference every day.
