SEMH Teaching Assistant Required in Mitcham
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Mitcham area.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who may face behavioural, emotional, and social challenges, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential both academically and personally.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Support students in regulating emotions and developing positive behaviours
- Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
- Encourage participation, independence, and self-confidence
- Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs is desirable
- A patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Backgrounds in education, youth work, care, mentoring, sports coaching, or support work are encouraged to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
