How the calculators work
Every calculator uses the rules in force in the United Arab Emirates, shows its arithmetic and names the source.
- 1.
Enter a few figures
A salary, an hourly rate or a budget. The result updates as you type, nothing is sent anywhere.
- 2.
See the breakdown
Every deduction, contribution and total on its own line, per month and per year, so the headline figure is never a black box.
- 3.
Check the rules
Each page lists the rates and thresholds it applies, the official source and the date we last checked them.
Frequently asked questions
Are the calculators free?
- Yes. Every calculator is free, needs no account and sends none of your figures to a server: the arithmetic runs in your browser.
Which rules do they use?
- The UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) for gratuity, overtime and leave, and the Federal Tax Authority's 5 % VAT. There is no personal income tax, so gross and net salary are the same for expatriate employees. Each page shows the date its rules were last checked.
Are the results exact?
- They are estimates built on the statutory rules. Your contract, free-zone regulations, the split between basic salary and allowances, and Emirati pension contributions change the figures. For a decision that depends on the exact figure, ask your payroll or an adviser.
Why is there no gross-to-net calculator?
- Because the UAE levies no income tax on salaries: an expatriate employee's net pay equals the gross. UAE nationals contribute to GPSSA or ADPF pensions (11 % of pensionable salary under the 2023 law), which the employer cost calculator covers in the benefits field.
