We are working closely with a supportive primary school in the BS5 area to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Specialist SEN Support Assistant for a next term start. This is a rewarding one-to-one role supporting a pupil with significant behavioural, emotional and additional learning needs.

We're looking for someone who can bring calmness, consistency and confidence to every interaction. Someone who understands that progress isn't always measured in academic achievements alone, but in the small victories that help a child move forward. Whether that's successfully transitioning between activities, building positive relationships or developing strategies to regulate emotions, every step matters.

Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team, you'll deliver tailored support throughout the school day, helping the pupil access learning, develop social and emotional skills and experience success within the classroom environment.

The Role

• Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with complex behavioural and additional needs
• Implementing personalised behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
• Using effective de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation approaches
• Supporting the pupil to engage positively with learning and school routines
• Building a consistent, trusting and respectful working relationship
• Monitoring progress and sharing observations with school staff
• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams
• Promoting independence, resilience and positive behaviour strategies

A Bit About You

• Experience supporting children with high-needs SEN and behavioural challenges aged 4-11
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient approach
• Confident supporting children with complex behavioural, communication and emotional regulation needs
• Comfortable working in a dedicated one-to-one role
• Strong understanding of inclusive practice and personalised support strategies
• Skilled at building positive relationships and maintaining professional boundaries
• Able to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential

What We Need To Clear You

• Passport / proof of right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence, utility bill, council tax bill or P45/P60
• CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
• Two years of references, including SEN, childcare or education references where applicable
• Overseas Police Check if you have lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years
