Protocol Education is working with a range of welcoming mainstream and SEN schools across BS3 to recruit enthusiastic graduates, students, and aspiring education professionals to support early phonics development within EYFS settings.

If you're interested in education, child development, speech and language, psychology, or teaching, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a genuine difference to young learners at the very start of their educational journey.

The Role

As a Phonics Support Assistant, you'll help children build the foundations they need to become confident readers and communicators.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting children with early phonics, letter sounds, and blending
• Delivering engaging 1:1 and small-group reading activities
• Helping children develop confidence with communication and language
• Supporting play-based learning opportunities within the EYFS environment
• Encouraging listening, attention, and social interaction skills
• Helping establish routines that support learning and development
• Working closely with teachers and Early Years practitioners to support pupil progress

About You

We're looking for individuals who are:

• Graduates, students, or those looking to gain valuable school experience
• Passionate about supporting children's early learning and development
• Patient, nurturing, and positive in their approach
• Strong communicators with a naturally engaging personality
• Confident supporting children at different developmental stages
• Interested in careers such as teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, childcare, or SEND support
• Eager to learn and develop new skills within education

Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine desire to help children thrive are what matter most.

To get you registered and ready to start, we'll need:

• A valid passport or proof of your right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address
• A CV covering the last 10 years of work and/or education history, with any gaps explained
• Two years of references, including education, childcare, voluntary, employment, or youth work references where applicable
• An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for 3 months or more within the last 5 years
