Protocol Education is working in partnership with welcoming and inclusive schools in Radstock seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Specialists to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Learning Support Assistants, Youth Workers, Care Workers or graduates with relevant experience who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

You'll play a key role in supporting pupils both within and beyond the classroom, helping them develop emotional regulation, build positive relationships and engage more successfully with school life. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and families, you'll help create calm, structured and nurturing environments where children can feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Specialist, you will:

• Support pupils with ASD and additional behavioural or communication needs
• Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence and engagement
• Implement behaviour support strategies tailored to individual pupils
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support throughout the school day
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation and social communication skills
• Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to promote positive learning behaviours
• Support pupils during moments of dysregulation using calm and consistent approaches
• Encourage independence, resilience and self-confidence
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people with ASD, SEMH or additional needs
• Understands positive behaviour support approaches and inclusive practice
• Remains calm, patient and solution-focused in challenging situations
• Can build strong, professional relationships with pupils, families and staff
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
• Has experience in education, youth work, care, coaching or similar support-based roles

Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, SEN, Child Development, Health & Social Care or related fields are welcomed but not essential.

What We Need to Clear You

• Passport/proof of right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or council tax statement)
• A CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
• References covering the past two years, including education, childcare or support-based roles where applicable
• An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for three months or more within the last five years
