Salary: £31,650–£51,048 per annum / PAYE, dependent on experience and qualifications

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teacher to work within a specialist education setting in Sunderland.

This role would suit a teacher who enjoys working with secondary-aged pupils and wants to combine academic teaching with personal development, pastoral support and preparation for life beyond school.

You will teach pupils with additional needs and help them make progress through a combination of engaging lessons, personalised support and practical learning opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering lessons across the secondary curriculum
• Differentiating work to meet individual needs
• Supporting pupils with SEND to access learning
• Setting appropriate learning objectives
• Assessing and monitoring progress
• Supporting EHCP outcomes
• Encouraging independence and life skills
• Supporting positive behaviour
• Building strong relationships with pupils
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
• Contributing to a positive classroom culture
• Preparing pupils for their next steps beyond school

Experience working with KS3/KS4 pupils is desirable, alongside experience of SEND or a willingness to develop your specialist knowledge.
