How overtime pay is calculated

The hourly rate comes from the basic salary, the premium from the Labour Law.

Hourly rate
Monthly basic salary divided by the monthly hours (hours per week × 52 / 12). On AED 6,000 and 48 hours that is AED 28.85.
Premium
Article 19 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021: overtime is paid at the basic hourly rate plus at least 25 %, and plus 50 % for hours between 10 pm and 4 am. Work on the weekly rest day earns a substitute day off or the rate plus 50 %.
Limits
Normal hours are 8 a day or 48 a week (6 during Ramadan). Overtime may not exceed 2 hours a day unless needed to prevent serious loss, and 144 hours in any three weeks.
